Your legacy will live on....

My husband Jay and I have managed to organize a race against domestic violence. Our slogan is D.A.S.H. (Domestic Abuse Stops Here). We have been working for several long months organizing the event. Well D.A.S.H. is going to be held at Kelly Ingram Park August 24, 2008 and is going to be televised. So far we are sponsored by 95.7 Jamz and 98.7 Kiss fm ( Special thanks to Mary Kay for all her hard work and efforts), Special thanks to Micheal the Spiritual Advisor, Special thanks to Woo of 95.7 jamz, the YWCA (special thanks to Jennifer Caraway), Alabama Silent Witness Program (special thanks to Sunetta "Sunny" Slaughter), Special thanks to Sergeant James Jackson of Birmingham Police department, UAB (special thanks to Deb Lucas )and VOCAL. Many more are to be added in the following weeks.  I will also be making a guest apperance on 95.7 jamz talk show "The School of Hip Hop" on June 22nd to talk about domestic violence and what we are trying to do to make a difference... All this is being done is in honor not of Tricey's death, but in honor of her life. I will say we did not expect such an overwhelming response, but we're not complaining! It's time for a change and we will do everything in our power to make a difference and make sure that Tricey is honored in every step of the way... We will be adding more information as things keep taking shape and more people and Corporations become involved.... Thank you everyone for your continued support, encouragement, and rememberance of Latrisha Pruitt....

The Butterfly Effect was founded in memory of LaTrisha Pruitt. We lost Latrisha to domestic violence 11/24/2007. LaTrisha leaves behind three little girls ages 7, 5, and 7 months (currently) , her mother (Elaine) , Step-father (Cyrus) , two brothers ( James & her twin LaTrell) , One sister-n-law (Christy) , One niece age 13 , & one nephew age 4 .

We have started this organization with the hopes of educating the public about domestic violence, as well as lending a helping hand to survivors of this kind of abuse. Domestic violence is a real issue in our country that needs to be addressed. Alabama alone is ranked #12 in domestic violence (and these numbers are only figured off of the reported instances!) Domestic Violence is deadly! It’s time that we as a community join together and do something about this issue. People are losing their lives to this abuse and it’s time for it to stop!

The Butterfly Effect is holding its first annual walk against Domestic Violence (D.A.S.H. – Domestic Abuse Stops Here) on August 24, 2008 @ 5pm. The walk will start and end in Kelly Ingram Park (distance is still pending permit.) Registration is $20, and all proceeds will go into a scholarship fund at U.A.B. The scholarships will be available to Domestic Violence survivors. Thus far 98.7 KISS fm, 95.7 JAMZ, Vocal, YWCA, Silent Witness Program, and U.A.B have offered their support and sponsorship. Sponsorship and donations are still being accepted until August 1st. Please decide to join in with us and be part of the change…

Sincerely,
The Pruitt Family
